Inclement Weather Policy

Inclement Weather Policy for In-school Classes

If your school has an inclement weather policy that covers refunds, Little Hands Creations will follow that policy.

If your school does not have a policy, the following will be adhered to:

If SPS cancels enrichment programs for weather conditions, we will work with the school to schedule a make-up class. If a make-up class cannot be scheduled, we will not issue refunds.

However, if SPS is running enrichment programs, but Little Hands Creations needs to cancel due to weather conditions, and a make-up class is not able to be scheduled, refunds will be issued.

Inclement Weather and Park Playtime Policies for LHC Summer Camps

Little Hands Creations monitors summer weather conditions closely so we can prepare for heavy rain, extreme heat, or poor air quality.

During nice weather, outdoor summer camps and Lunch Bunch will run at Cowen Park as scheduled, and indoor camps may have the option to move outdoors, depending on the curriculum and at the discretion of LHC staff.

During inclement weather, outdoor summer camps and Lunch Bunch will relocate indoors to our studio at 5901 Roosevelt Way NE, Suite 101B. Our studio is air conditioned and has an additional air purifier.

Missing the first sewing class

Things happen! Kids get sick! We know that things come up. If your child needs to miss the first class of our machine sewing program, we have two options.

If you have a sewing machine at home, we can email you our paper sewing template and a truncated version of the beginner sewing procedure. You can work through the process with your student and they can bring in their completed paper sewing to the second class and join the group.

If you do not have a sewing machine, you can join one of our make-up classes! We offer them on Wednesdays in our Roosevelt studio. Pricing is $30 per 90 minutes class.

ESL Student Policy

We are thrilled to welcome ESL (English as a Second Language) students into our programs and are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all learners.

Because our classes involve hands-on tools, safety protocols, and detailed instructions, a certain level of English proficiency is required to ensure students can fully understand and follow safety guidelines.

To keep all students safe and set them up for success:

  • Machine Sewing Classes:
ESL students must have at least one year of ESL instruction before enrolling in machine sewing classes. This ensures they can confidently follow multi-step instructions and important safety procedures.

  • Hand Sewing Classes:
ESL students must have at least six months of ESL instruction before enrolling in hand sewing classes, where safety needs are still essential but less complex than machine use.
