Service Description

Grades: 2nd and up Welcome to LHC’s Machine Sewing class, designed for students of all skill levels! Whether your student is brand new to sewing or already has experience, this class offers opportunities to learn, grow, and create. All students begin with a comprehensive safety orientation covering essential machine protocols and studio expectations. New students complete our beginner sewing curriculum, while returning and experienced students continue building technical skills through increasingly independent projects. Machine sewing is an exciting, hands-on experience that requires focus, patience, fine motor coordination, and care. Students learn how to safely operate our heavy-duty sewing machines while developing problem-solving skills, confidence, resilience, and independence. Instructors provide individualized support and guidance throughout the learning process. This is a student-led class where students progress at their own pace. After completing the beginner curriculum, students must successfully complete two prerequisite projects before gaining full autonomy in selecting independent projects. Project offerings rotate each session and may include backpacks, clothing, accessories, bags, games, and stuffed animals. This is one of our most popular and inclusive classes — a creative space where students of many ages, experience levels, and interests can thrive. *For all new sewing students, attendance at the first class session is mandatory.
